Two guilloché machines

These machines were also used to prepare glasses for etching.
The patterns made with these machines are different from those made with the pantograph - read more about the differences here.

The two machines have different constructions, but give the same type of patterns.
We found both of them in an old storage shed in Kosta, but do not know at which glassworks they were used. Near the machines we found several cogwheels and other accessories, but of course we do not know what we lack.

The one we have dubbed "the small machine" (but it is heavy enough!) has a manufacturer's plate: it was made by the Kutzscher company, that once was located near Dresden in Germany.

The bigger machine has a completely different construction: not only has it legs, but also space for cogwheels under the table.
"The plate" does not only rotate, it also can move up and down.

It has no identifying mark, except for a small one made in the foundry – see below.

It is similar to a couple of the guilloché machines in the Cultural heriatge museum in Växjö, machines they fetched in Kosta.

The cogwheels of this machine are different from those of the "small" one, and they also conform with some of the recipes in the pattern books we have.

Thus, we believe that the "big" machine has been used in Kosta.
